Release Notes for RobotStudio 2022.2

General

The release name is RobotStudio 2022.2 and the build number is 22.2.9947.0. The release date is July 3, 2022.

Collision Free Path

The Collision Free Path feature helps you to create a path between two positions avoiding collision with obstacles in the station. In addition to the robot links, the attached tool and load is also checked for collisions. The start and end positions can be targets, joint targets or move instructions. The largest collision free zone is selected for each of the generated MoveAbsJ instructions.










OmniCore E10 and V250XT

Models of OmniCore E10 and V250XT cabinets have been added under the Import Library menu.
The door of the V250XT can be opened.

Project Mode

IO Engineering tool are now working with projects instead of directly to a Robot Controller. 
A project can be associated to a Robot Controller and when writing the configuration will be at the associated Robot Controller. If no Robot Controller has been associated then a Robot Controller must be chosen from a dialog before writing the configuration to that Robot Controller.

When creating a project it is possible to set to which RobotWare this project are targeting, the name of the project and associate a Robot Controller to the project.




If some of the project parameters need to be changed it can be done in Project settings.

Note: The available RobotWare to chose from for the projects are those that are installed on the computer.

If a Robot Controller are connected to RobotStudio and thereafter open the IO Engineering tool, project for the connected Robot Controller will automatically be created.

Project supersedes Solution

The Solution file and folder format has changed and Solution is from now on called Project.
  • The .rssln file is superseded by the the .rsproj file.
  • The .rsstn file is superseded by the .rsstnx file which now is a plain XML file.
  • The new folder Controller Data contains automatically generated backups of all controllers in a project. Backups are created when the project is saved.
  • Existing Solutions are saved in the previous format.
  • New Solutions can't be created - only Projects.

Saving Project applies RAPID changes

When saving a Project, all unsaved changes in RAPID editors for virtual controllers are now applied automatically.

Improvements

Improvements to IRB6620LX setup dialog

Parameter "Calibration Position" is renamed to "Joint 1 Zero Position". Information tool tip added for parameters "Track Length" and "Joint 1 Zero Position".


Increased maximum number of enabled lights

The maximum number of enabled lights has been increased from 8 to 16.

Information

Changed abbreviation for Tool Force Supervision

The abbreviation for Tool Force Supervision has been changed from TFS to TFO, following the same principle as the rest of the SafeMove functions.

Fixed a problem where parts of the user interface could become unresponsive after running a simulation in "As fast as possible" mode while having a RAPID editor window open.
13344PaintApplicator issue when changing Part

The PaintApplicator Smart Component only applied paint to the Part that was selected at the start of the simulation. It is now possible to change the Part during simulation.
13488Incorrect configuration listed for 7-axis robot

The Configurations tool included an incorrect configuration for 7-axis robots. This has now been corrected.

13496IRB 14050 arm angle incorrect

Using freehand linear jog on a single-arm YuMi could sometimes incorrectly make the robot appear to be on the limit of its working range. The issue is fixed and the behavior is now the same as when using the FlexPendant.
14265Corrupt module file

Opening a RAPID module from a controller with RobotWare 7.1 or higher could sometimes result in corrupt text if the file included 2-byte Unicode characters. If this happens then an alternative way of retrieving the text is performed.
14268 Exception while displaying IRB 910INV work envelope

Fixed an error that could occur when displaying 3D work envelope for an IRB 910INV with non-standard joint offset.
14387Signals are validated as rapid identifier

Signals in IO Engineering Tool are now validated as rapid identifier.
14425Set local origin of a Smart Component repositions contained mechanism

Changing local origin of a Smart Component which contains two mechanisms, where one is attached to the other, caused the attached one to move to a different position. This issue is now fixed.
14508Issue with long lists of I/O connections in Smart Components

Fixed an issue in the Smart Component I/O Connection list where the selected connections could be scrolled out of view when clicking the "Move Up" or "Move Down" buttons.
14550Visual SafeMove: No validation when activation signal for tool is missing

Added validation for missing tool activation signal.
14567UIShow stuck when using Operator Window

Fixed an issue that caused the RAPID execution to be stuck on a UIShow instruction if the Operator Window was open in RobotStudio and the Virtual FlexPendant was closed.
14656 Not possible to edit mechanism

In RobotStudio 2022.1 there is an issue causing mechanisms to become corrupt when created.
The issue also prevents mechanisms created by any RobotStudio version from being edited.
Mechanisms are now created correctly and can be edited.
Mechanisms created with RobotStudio 2022.1, however, are corrupt and will never be possible to edit.
14693Exception when opening Public Network properties

Opening Public Network properties will no longer throw exceptions. DNS settings will be disabled for RobotWare 5.

14741Visual SafeMove: Not possible to change ProfiSafe F-Address at BMW

Visual SafeMove couldn't handle that the internal device had different names in CFG and in the Safety controller. This is now fixed.
14785 Visual SafeMove: Crash when Cyclic Brake Check is selected

Fixed a bug where RobotStudio would crash on entering the Cyclic brake check in Visual SafeMove 1.
Visual SafeMove: Up/down buttons not working

The up/down buttons for the numeric text boxes in Visual SafeMove does now increase and decrease the value.
Visual SafeMove: Reference coordinate for creating zone has incorrect options

Fixed incorrect reference coordinate names.
Visual SafeMove: Error in SafeZone reference coordinate options

A description has been added to a blank option, and an option that was not translated is now translated.
Exception when removing manage UAS grants for a logged in user

A dialog now informs you that the 'Manage UAS settings' grant can't be removed from a user that is logged in.
Visual SafeMove: 'Signal Uses' information missing for global signals

Information about which signals are used by the the Feedback device is now displayed, when the signal is shown in a dropdown menu.
This happened only for global signals created in RobotWare 7.4.

Unable to use pre-configured Local I/O in RW6

When connecting a physical device to a system which already has a configuration of that device, it was not possible to select "Configure as replacement device". This was caused by an incorrect comparison of the device information and the corresponding information in System Parameters. This is now fixed.
Signal Analyzer doesn't warn about missing Category 0 Stop signals

Signal Analyzer playback does now inform the user and hide the ghost robot, if possible, if the recording contains Category 0 Stop signals of robots that doesn't have this signal.
Visual SafeMove: Wrong quantity and unit in error message for StartSpeedOffset

In the error message displayed while the StartSpeedOffset parameter is outside it's allowed limits, the parameter value is now shown in the units specified in RobotStudio options.
Tab group window shrinking when changing tab

Fixed an issue where vertical or horizontal tab groups change size when switching between Home and other tabs.
Demos stations: Unknown error if there is no internet connection

Improved the handling of internet connection errors when downloading a demo station.
RAPID Editor: Compare window background color wrong for "dark mode"

Fixed background color and default text color of the compare window so it matches the RAPID editor settings.
Exception when recording to viewer


Fixed an issue where recording simulation to viewer would fail for large simulations with auto-generated parts through smart components.
Missing padding in maximized state

Improved the layout of items in the title bar when the RobotStudio window is maximized.
Visual SafeMove: Add point button in Tool data remains disabled on deleting all speed supervision points

The button now gets enabled again after deleting supervision points exceeding the maximum allowed number.
Visual SafeMove: Exception when a safety function has the same signal as activation and status

No more exception when a safety function has the same signal as activation and status.
Visual SafeMove: Tolerance value gets reset on unchecking any robot joint for SST

Tolerance values are no longer reset when unchecking robot joints for Stand Still Supervision.
VSM: stop category shows error on selecting category0 stop option for any supervision

A more specific error message is now shown when stop category 0 is chosen on robot models that doesn't support it. 
Exception creating a project with existing name


There will no longer be an exception in the output if a folder is created with the same name as input in RobotStudio when pressing 'Create'.

Visual SafeMove: Safe Zones are imported even if basic joint supervision is enabled

When basic joint supervision is enabled no Safe Zones are allowed. If the user import a configuration with Safe Zones, the Safe Zones are now deleted. Before the Safe Zones where not deleted.
Visual SafeMove: Exception importing protected elements

Fixed an issue that caused an exception when importing protected elements.
Ghost robot not moving for some robots in Recording Playback

In Recording Playback ghost robot for some robot models doesn't move when the recording is played back when Show robots in stop position Category 0 is chosen.
Fatal error opening activation wizard


Fixed a bug where RobotStudio would crash when opening the license Activation wizard. The problem would occur when a faulty network license IP address was specified. 
Control flickers when typing project name

Issue appeared while creating a new solution with a controller. This is fixed and the boxes now keep their position.
Launching I/O window triggers an "Unknown error"

Last version of RobotStudio introduced a bug that could be triggered by opening the I/O Window. This would cause the window to not display any signals. This issue has now been fixed.
Unpack & Work can fail for rspags with multiple controllers

Fixed an issue in Unpack & Work that could cause RobotWare add-ins to be added to the wrong Virtual Controller for stations with multiple controllers.
